Get industry secrets and in depth career development details: http://tinyurl.com/RigJobsManual Get access to web´s most comprehensive (and real) Oil Rig Job Bank: http://tinyurl.com/RigJobBank General Information on ¨How to get an Oil Rig Job Now¨ As global demand for oil grows, the oil rig industry is under increasing pressure to expand exploration and drilling operations. Many oil companies are capitalizing on relaxed government restrictions and technological advances to maximize production. The new rigs they build require workers to man them. Jobs on oil rigs are physically demanding and work conditions are often dangerous, but oil rig workers earn good salaries, often gain promotions, and can work in locations throughout the world. If you want to learn how to work on an oil rig, follow these guidelines. 1. Assess your ability to work under challenging circumstances. Most oil rig jobs require hard labor under trying conditions. Entry-level workers, like roughnecks and roustabouts, can expect certain challenges. 2. Pursue applicable training and certification. While entry-level jobs on oil rigs are plentiful and technically don't require any experience, few companies will hire a "green hand" to work on their billion-dollar platforms. In general, oil rig workers only need to be 18 or older, have a high school diploma and pass a pre-employment drug test. Successful applicants have usually pursued oil rig training independently or bring transferable skills to the job. All workers must meet certain minimum standards and certifications to work on an oil rig • Current work visa: Most companies will arrange for a current work visa for people working outside their native country. • Immunizations: Oil rig jobs are available in some of the world's most exotic locations, including the coasts of Africa and the waters of Southeast Asia. Workers from other regions often get jobs in these areas, but they must complete a full course of immunizations before they will be hired. • Specialized training courses: Many trade schools and colleges offer classes on various facets of the oil industry, including oil rig work. Most classes blend coursework with hands-on, field experience. Companies often provide training for workers looking to advance their careers in specialized fields. • Certification: All offshore workers are required to earn an Offshore Survival & Firefighting certificate. Specialized workers, like electricians, scaffolders and welders, must hold a state-issued license or certificate in order to work on a rig. 3. Decide what oil rig job is best for you. An oil rig is a place where you really can work hard to get ahead. Most crane operators, shift supervisors and other skilled workers started out in entry-level positions. They set themselves apart by pursuing advanced oil rig training and accepting additional assignments. Inexperienced workers can begin their careers in any one of several oil rig jobs • Roughneck: Roughnecks are general laborers who usually work on the rig deck. They move equipment and supplies, and also are responsible for cleaning equipment and work areas. • Roustabout: These workers are involved in drilling operations. They often move sections of drill pipe and clean spill. Roustabouts aspire to one day become the tool pusher, the senior supervisor on a rig. • Helper: Helpers assist skilled personnel, serving as apprentices for rig electricians, lead welders and heavy-equipment operators. • Painter: Offshore oil rigs, in particular, must be painted constantly to protect the structure from the corrosive effects of saltwater. This is hazardous duty, as painters often must be suspended in harnesses to reach remote areas of the platform. • Motorman: Motormen maintain and repair all rig machinery, including generators and deck equipment. • Deckhand: Deckhands build tow lines to secure barges and boats to the structure, facilitating loading and offloading of cargo. • Steward: Housekeeping needs, including laundry service and janitorial duties, must be met to ensure the smooth operation of an oil rig. • Assistant chef: Galley hands, including assistant chefs, work around the clock to prepare meals for all shifts. This is a job where mainstream experience is directly transferable to duties on the rig.

However, it's not as difficult as most people think. Finding and getting the job on oil rig platform isn't particularly complex. It just takes time and effort. Where the real problem lies is in keeping the oil rig job once you get it. There's a good reason why offshore drilling companies are always hiring workers for their offshore oil platforms – the work is really really tough and many people find they can not take the hardship. Texas oil field jobs No experience required - Texas Oil Field Jobs Texas oil field jobs No experience required - Texas Oil Field Jobs. So how does a person looking for an oil rig job get it with no experience? If you really haven't absolutely any experience – never worked at sea, offshore, never worked in construction, never worked on a land oil rig platform – you might only start at the bottom. A slow, steady and sure way is to prepare yourself by spending 1 year or 2 on each of the jobs mentioned above. It will earn you relevant experience and it toughens you up for a real job offshore on an oil rig with no experience. Texas oil field jobs No experience required - Texas Oil Field Jobs. Texas oil field jobs No experience required - Texas Oil Field Jobs. Of course, you might prefer the less certain way of trying for roustabout jobs positions on oil wells in shallow waters near shore. In the Gulf states where there is a lot of offshore oil drilling platforms, there are offshore oil rigs that operate near land. Such oil rig companies sometimes hire temporary workers on day rates during periods of high activity. Texas oil field jobs No experience required - Texas Oil Field Jobs Texas oil field jobs No experience required - Texas Oil Field Jobs. land secure a distinct experience from oil rig roustabout jobs offshore. Land-based oil rigs are generally smaller operations than offshore oil rig platforms. If you inset it with job experience on a trawler vessel or Navy or Coast Guard seafarer, you are going to have a much better chance of getting hired for entry level rig job platforms compared to someone who just graduated from high school. Texas oil field jobs No experience required - Texas Oil Field Jobs Texas oil field jobs No experience required - Texas Oil Field Jobs. Yet another good alternative is to gain some kind of good skill which might be shifted to an offshore oil rig platform. One such example is scaffolding. In a construction yard, the basic rate per hour is from US$4 to US$7, and you must work twelve hours or even more. Take this skill to an offshore oil rig platform and you might expect to earn somewhere around US$55,000 for a year. If you have a head for heights and are willing to slave away for 1 year or 2 to get the needed job experience on oil rig platform, it might be a good option. Texas oil field jobs No experience required - Texas Oil Field Jobs Texas oil field jobs No experience required - Texas Oil Field Jobs .Trade abilities are also another path on to get an oil rig job. There are posts for welders, electricians and mechanics onboard an offshore oil platforms. It will help if you've worked on a land rig platform before, but actual offshore experience is often not necessary. You might make from US$55,000 to US$60,000 for one year and this is about double than the wages on land. However, one disadvantage of such jobs is that career promotion prospects are very limited. A common roustabout might work his way up the ladder to roughneck, derreck hand, assistant driller and driller. An experienced driller on a deep water oil rig platform might expect to make US$100,000 for one year or even more. On the other hand, trade skills tend to be easier to transfer among land and sea, so it all evens out. http://www.OilCareersInfo.com Advantages of Oil Careers Those who are interested in pursuing an oil career will find there are many advantages of working in this field. Such advantages include compensation, the nature and scope of the work and the travel opportunities. Workers involved in drilling for exploration and production must often travel from one project location to the next. Some drilling projects are onshore and others are offshore. Some active drilling areas in the United States include Western Wyoming, East Texas, Alabama, Colorado, and the Gulf of Mexico. In addition, Western Canada, North Africa, South America, Russia, Europe, and the North Sea are just a few of the active regions worldwide. Earning a high salary is another advantage to working in the oil and gas industry. Salaries are even higher for technical positions that are in demand, such as petroleum engineer, seismic expert, pipeline operator, and other highly trained professionals. When oil and gas prices rise, many oil and gas company employees also see a rise in their salary and thus earn more than counterparts in other industries. Most oil and gas companies provide benefits like health insurance and 401(k) plans, and some also provide education assistance, dental insurance, pension plans, and/or extra compensation for overseas employees. Careers in the oil industry also offer plenty of other advantages, including interesting, intellectually stimulating work. Imagine the challenge of interpreting seismic results so that an exploratory drilled well actually finds oil or gas. Consider the difficulty of managing a huge pipeline system that crosses the country from Texas' Gulf Coast to the Midwest or New York. Think about the Trans Alaska Pipeline and the efforts focused on protecting the permafrost layer and existing caribou migration routes. Business managers also face challenges like dealing with domestic markets, OPEC, industry regulations, and their impact on the bottom line. Last, the work is varied and every day on the job is different, just as each drilling project is different with unique challenges. For example, pipelines must be constantly monitored to adjust for changes in the moisture content of natural gas, temperature, or pressure. Other workers are monitoring supply and demand as well as fluctuating economic markets. Natural gas or oil company heads must also deal with changing markets, new regulations, competitors and even weather. Gas station owners have to deal with customer needs, competitors, international pricing changes, and ancillary services. ►#mometrix #mometrixtestpreparation
